Present: Carlotta Carvel, Tovi Darrell, Miriam Genall, Helen Dart, Princepessa Scott, Phoebe Persons

Old Business
Camille continues discussions with the administrative office regarding inflatable Santa hats for the lions at the east entrance. Security has expressed concerns about vandalism & theft.

New Business

I. Radio Ads
Tovi has placed new radio ads on WACK and KHAL emphasizing the new Art Rest Café and its wide variety of flavored coffees – mocha mint, honey almond & coconut cream. The ads also mention African art.

II. Reconstruction! Carpetbaggers & Scalawags in the New South Family Day
Helen is working with the Education Dept. to plan a family day based on this exhibit. Carousel Foods, corporate sponsor, has pledged biscuits and gravy for the first 300 visitors. Craft activity will be plaster of Paris (i.e. gesso) plantations. Gallery tours will be led by costumed docents dressed as Lucien Whiting Powell and Gilbert Gaul. More research on Civil War/Reconstruction artists being conducted by Education Dept.

III. Picchu! Art of the Ancient Incas
The museum is forming work groups to handle preparation for this major exhibit. Currently working are the Public Relations Group (led by Miriam) and the Security & Safety Group (led by Jack Hughes.) Other groups to form soon include: Marketing Tactics, Traffic & Parking, Wristband/Ticketing, Souvenir/Trinkets, Opening Party, Corporate Party, Closing Party, and Corporate Sponsorship. Each staff member can expect to serve on at least one work group.

IV.Employees of the Year
Carlotta reported that the museum is now accepting nominations for Employees of the Year. Plaques will be awarded at the All Staff Retreat in November. Nomination forms are available in the administrative office. Categories include: Managerial, Administrative, Service and Union.

V. Department Snacks
Princepessa moved that snacks and sweets of any sort brought in to share with the department be restricted to Fridays only. Snacks and sweets left out on the table with the fax machine are sabotaging efforts to eat healthfully. Carlotta asked that further discussion and a department vote on the restriction be delayed until after the holiday season.

VI.Discounted Merchandise in Museum Store
All remaining magnets, mugs, pins and pillow shams from the Breaking It Wide Open: The Work of Jackson Pollock exhibit will be discounted 15% for staff during the month of November.

VII.Welcome to Phoebe
Miriam passed around biscotti and chocolate-covered cherries to welcome the addition of Phoebe to the department. Welcome!
