On a cross-country road trip, you've got a nonfunctioning radio and one cassette.  What is it? (No CDs allowed, we're going retro).

Rebecca Collins: 5150 by Van Halen, dude. 5150.

Joel Jensen: Meat Loaf.  Bat Out of Hell.  Any more questions?

Mark Kalar: It's a 100 minute (metal Type IV of course) cassette. Side A: The Ramones, Ramones Mania. Side B: AC/DC, Back in Black. Let the rock begin!

Stephen McClurg: Talking Heads '77

Keith Pille: This old-timey country mix (also including the themes to The Dukes of Hazzard and The Fall Guy, for some reason) that I made in college. Very Cash- and Hank- heavy, with a lot of Hag.

Don Pizarro: I know from experience with this exact scenario that Boston's debut album is an absolute must.  It doesn't matter how crappy, tinny, and bass-less the cassette player sounds.  All anyone needs are the guitar licks and Brad Delp's soaring vocals (usually mimicked by clutching one's crotch very tightly, especially during "More Than a Feeling") to make the time pass on the road.  No need for rewind, fast forward, or skip for this one.  Just let it play and you'll feel just like a "Rock and Roll Band."

Simon Riordan: Van Halen I & II (homemade dub)

Jonathan Shipley: Peter Gabriel's So album, from which I sing "In Your Eyes" 1.3 million times.

Amethyst Vineyard: A Patsy Cline "Best Of" would probably do for the entire trip. But only if I were alone in the car, because any passengers would soon be driven to suicide by listening to me sing Patsy Cline songs over and over and over again.

Clint Weathers: Masters Of Metal -- K-Tel, circa 1985.

Side One

Trashed – Black Sabbath
Mean Streak – Y&T
Breakin’ The Chains – Dokken
Who’s Behind the Door – Zebra
Rainbow in the Dark – Dio
Screaming in the Night – Krokus
Lick It Up – Kiss

Side Two

Street of Dreams – Rainbow
Run to the Hills – Iron Maiden
Tom Sawyer – Rush
A World of Fantasy – Triumph
You Can’t Stop Rock an Roll – Twister Sister
Dancing in the Street – Van Halen

Could it POSSIBLY get any better?  I think not.
